The Role

We are seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to provide Level 3 technical support for a cloud platform used by scientists, bioinformaticians, and data analysts running genomic and biomedical data workflows.

This role focuses on advanced troubleshooting and platform diagnostics. You will investigate complex technical issues affecting customer workloads, identify root causes across cloud infrastructure and workflows, and collaborate closely with the DevOps, Bioinformatics, and Bioinformatics Support teams to resolve platform issues.

The ideal candidate enjoys deep technical investigation, working closely with people across teams, and helping users and engineers solve complex problems in production environments.

What You’ll Do

Level 3 Platform Support

  • Provide Level 3 technical support for a data and analytics cloud platform to help scientists and data analysts develop and run genomic workflows.

  • Investigate complex technical issues affecting customer pipelines, datasets, compute environments, or platform services.

  • Perform deep troubleshooting across cloud infrastructure, platform services, and workflow execution environments.

Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis

  • Diagnose production incidents affecting platform reliability or workflow execution.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and provide detailed technical findings to engineering teams.

  • Work closely with the DevOps, engineering, and customer success teams to help identify infrastructure-related issues.

Cross-Team Technical Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Bioinformatics engineers to troubleshoot issues impacting genomic pipelines and analysis workflows.

  • Provide technical guidance and escalation support for the Bioinformatics Support team when complex user issues arise.

  • Work with internal teams and platform vendors (DNAnexus) when deeper platform-level investigation is required.

Platform Diagnostics & Performance Investigation

  • Analyze logs, job execution data, and infrastructure signals to identify performance bottlenecks or failures.

  • Troubleshoot issues related to compute environments, storage access, data transfers, and workflow execution.

  • Help improve operational knowledge through documentation and troubleshooting guides.

Knowledge Sharing & Enablement

  • Provide technical insights and training to the Bioinformatics Support team to improve issue resolution efficiency.

  • Contribute to internal documentation, runbooks, and troubleshooting playbooks.

  • Help identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to platform reliability.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–6+ years of experience in Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or Platform Support roles.

  • Strong experience troubleshooting Linux production systems.

  • Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch).

  • Strong debugging and diagnostic skills across distributed systems and cloud platforms.

  • Experience troubleshooting containerized or workflow-based environments.

  • Scripting experience with Bash or Python.

  • Understanding of networking, cloud infrastructure, and storage systems.

  • Ability to analyze logs and system behavior to determine root causes.

  • Professional English communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with scientific cloud platforms (DNAnexus, Terra, Seven Bridges, AWS Omics).

  • Familiarity with genomics data formats (FASTQ, BAM, VCF).

  • Experience supporting bioinformatics or scientific computing workflows.

  • Familiarity with workflow tools such as Nextflow, WDL, or Cromwell.

  • Experience in customer-facing technical support environments.

  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator).
